Swim Team

1. Welcome current and future Dolphins! Our 2023 swim season was the best season in nearly 10 years! We are happy to welcome back Head Coach Marla Kepsel and assistant coaches Kelly Flannigan and Owen Bloink.
2. To register, we will be using MemberSplash.
   • If you need assistance, please reach out to me at recreation@burtonhollowswim.com.  Please fill out the form no later than June 1, 2024 with your MemberSplash payment. The cost this year is $78.00 per swimmer (capped at $200 per family) which includes a swim cap, a 2024 BHSC T-shirt, and end-the-season banquet entry for your entire family.
   • Please be aware that early sign up allows us to better prepare for this swim season,
     especially for an accurate count for our T-shirt order. We are hoping to have T-shirts ready
     for our first swim meet.
3. Please join us for a Swim Team Kickoff Meeting on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 10am to find out the exciting plans for our 2024 swim season! You will meet the coaches and re-connect with your swim team friends. The coaches and coordinator will be on hand for Q&A for this swim season. The kickoff is for all new and returning families, so please attend. Different Strokes, a local swim equipment store will be onsite to fit our swimmers with our team suits and have swim gear to purchase. The team suits will be the same as last year.
4. Practices are held Monday-Friday mornings. First practice is Monday June 10, 2024. Practice times are still being finalized. Below is a general guide.
   • 7:30am-9:00am: 13 & Up (and/or Higher-level swimmers)
   • 9:00am-10:00am: 11-12 (and/or Mid-Level swimmers)
   • 10:00am-11:00am: 10 & Under (and/or swimmers who need initial skill development)
5. Coach Marla Kepsel will be using a Google Form to track what swim meets your swimmer(s) can attend at the following google link: SWIM MEETS ATTENDENCE FROM.  In addition, Coach Marla Kepsel is recommending each family to purchase a pair of fins for their swimmer to improve their own swimming. 6. Swim Meet timing remains the same. Warm up begins at 5:00pm and swimmers should be at the pool no later than 4:45pm. The swim meet will start sharply at 6:00pm.
7. EVERY FAMILY MUST VOLUNTEER TO WORK 2 SHIFTS THIS SEASON. Volunteers are critical to the successful running of the swim meets. There will be a fine of $75 if you do not volunteer at least twice or reach out to the Swim Team Coordinator(s) to make other arrangements in advance. As in past years there will be a Sign-Up Genius for volunteer shifts which will also include a description for each volunteer role.
8. Team and individual pictures will be taken during the season prior to one of our home swim meets.
9. Private swimming lessons are optional and available. Please see coaches for more details if interested.
10. Swim Team Volunteer Needs. If you are able, we will need assistance in coordinating the following events:
    • Meet & Greet Team Party on Saturday, June 1, 2024
    • Fire Up Breakfast on Friday July 26, 2024
    • Swim Team Banquet on Sunday July 28, 2024 at 4pm
    • Concession Stand at our home swim meets
